my employer --which ostensibly adheres to a nondiscrimination policy-- offers me unequal pay for equal work. how can this be? my family of two must pay for two separate medical policies whereas married coworkers pay for only one. i know, employer insurance is considered a benefit and not salary, but the direct effect is the same: less take-home pay.

my partner and i have been together for over ten years. the median duration of heterosexual marriage in america is eight years.

i just watched the 3-minute appeal for aid to gaza, the one which the much-revered bbc refused to air. the ad never mentions israel by name, never mentions aircraft or tanks or soldiers. sez parts of gaza look like they were hit "by an earthquake". the appeal, in other words, has been de-zionized and the damage made semi-magical.

but even this was not enough to satisfy.......whom? the same folx who nixed airing bbc appeals for aid to lebanon in 2006?
